If there was one constant in a Philly sports fan's life, it was that unique voice. That majestic, reassuring voice on the radio, the voice which most of us took for granted for the past 31 years whenever we tuned in to a Phillies game.
Sadly, that voice won't be heard from again.
It's gonna suck listening to a Phillies broadcast. I think its safe to say that the Phillies organization and the city lost a national treasure.
Let's also not forget his work for NFL Films - a big reason why I became a huge football fan in general. Watching those NFL Film productions as a kid with Harry's narrations helped make the sport and the athletes look larger than life (to me anyways)
R.I.P Harry Kalas
here's a clip of Kalas' final hr call, this one coming from Matt Stairs who delivered a clutch 2 run home run to break a tie in the top of the 9th.
I hear Stairs gets paid in beer.
If so he deserves the whole brewery.
